250,000 Stolen Twitter accounts
A quarter million accounts Twitter have been stolen.
The security director Bob Lord confirmed the entryof hackers in the network system, so that the
affected users have invalidated their keys. The
company has sent emails to inform them of the fact.
According to Lord, the attack is very similar to what the newspapers have reported The New York Times and Wall Street Journal last week.
Lord confirmed in his blog the attacks, one of them identified and braking only have occurred. "The attack is not the work of amateurs and we do not believe that it is not an isolated incident. Attackers were extremely sophisticated and we believe other companies and agencies have recently received similar attacks. For that reason we believe it is important to inform the public of the attack while we get more information. "
The problem now is not the 250,000 affected in a service with 200 million users, but the multiplication of the stolen data for the use of other criminal activities via phishing. While Twitter attack sends notices requesting key change, it same cybercriminals are making advantage of stolen identities. It is best to go directly to the Twitter account and do not open any message requesting personal mailbox key change.
